About Me

I am the father of three teenage sons, an educator, a writer and a thinker about education and technology.

I was born and grew up in the north of England and came to Canada in my teens. Educated at the universities of Guelph, McMaster and Toronto, I was a successful elite soccer coach with The University of Guelph and The Oakville Soccer Club before moving into teaching. After eight years with The Toronto District School Board I accepted a position to teach at The American International School in Kuwait. I returned to Canada in 2001 and joined The Grand Erie District School Board where I still teach. I am currently the Grade 4/5 teacher at Major Ballachey School in Brantford, Ontario.

I write about education and technology on this blog. My thoughts on education have been published in The Toronto Star, The Globe and Mail, The Hamilton Spectator, The Brantford Expositor and on The Canadian Educational Association website and The National Education Policy Center (US) website. I have been interviewed about education on Rogers Television, CBC and private radio and on several podcasts. I speak publicly about education, present at education conferences in Canada and the US and to parent groups in Ontario.

I live in Hamilton, Ontario. You can see my Vizify resume here.

    Dear Mr. Campbell:

I publish a three times a year newsletter for the Elementary Teachers of Toronto and I really enjoyed your piece on EQAO. It does appear as a tapeworm that emerges every January and consumes any teaching time devoted to the Arts or any of the other subject that is not considered part of the core curriculum.

I was hoping you would allow me to publish it our newsletter. If we were to do so, would it be possible for to write a brief description of yourself to conclude the piece as well as how our readership could access your blog?

    Yours Truly

    Bruce Stodart

      Hi Bruce.

Thanks for the feedback. As a former ETT member (I started teaching in NYBE, then TDSB) I’d be delighted if my EQAO piece was published in your newsletter.

If you contact me at Campbelandrew@gmail.com or on twitter (@acampbell99) I’ll send you my short bio.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

      Andrew
